Ups & Downs Kits

As of July 2008, The Zoe Foundation has donated 137 Parenting Kits. The Parenting Kits have been donated to 11 Puget Sound Hospitals and 11 Parent to Parent Coordinators in Washington State. They are being requested now more than ever. In just a matter of 5 weeks, Children's Hospital in Seattle gave away 4 Parenting Kits to families in need.

According to the Down Syndrome Congress, there are approximately 350,000 Down Syndrome people in the United States. Approximately 5,000 Down Syndrome births each year in United States. Approximately 100 Down Syndrome births in Washington State each year. According to The National Down Sydrome Society, 80% of families do not know the diagnosis until birth. These Parenting Kits are needed for those families that are reeling from the shock and need up-to-date resources and information. Of course, The Parenting Kits don't fall out of the sky. It takes donation to make The Parenting Kits a reality. Each Parenting Kit is $75.00.

The Kit includes: The New Parents Guide to Down Syndrome, a medical dictionary, DS Awareness Pin, a toy for the baby, a present for the parents and an adorable keepsake box to keep all these goodies. But the most important item in the "Kit" is a folder that contains valuable information. The DS definition, support groups, education, early intervention and disability information.

Our goal with the Zoe Ups & Downs Kits are to help every family through the toughest time in their lives. When Zoe was born, we didn't know the meaning of Down Syndrome. We didn't know what to expect or what questions to ask. We had a rough time finding correct, up to date information. It became very frustrating. So, we have put together New Parent Kits to help new families through this process.

Of course, each kit doesn't just fall from the sky. It takes donations to make these kits a reality. Each kit is $75.

Donations are gladly accepted and are tax deductible.
